Jordan Brand recently released their Rise Above video series and their first of the four series premiered today on their Youtube channel titledRise Above Limits. The video follows Iraqi girl, Laylan, as she embraces basketball in a culture that typically won’t accept this kind of freedom.
As a basketball fan, this is hard to watch because of the lack of athletic ability and skill set found in Laylan and her team mates , but considering them for a scholarship isn’t the purpose of this series. The Jordan Brand has taken the emotional and uplifting aspect of basketball, and sports in general, to capture what it can do in a place where so much negative news is broadcasted that it can skew your viewpoint of the people who live there.
